We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the Spanish National Project MICROPLEACH (IMPACT OF MICROPLASTIC ADDITIVE LEACHATES ON PLANKTON) funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (grant: PID2020-120479GA-I00) and led by Dr. Rodrigo Almeda (ECOAQUA-EOMAR).
The post-doctoral researcher will be mainly based at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) but the candidate will also carry out research stays in other European laboratories (e.g., Örebro University in Sweden and the University of Bolonia in Italy) for studies related to chemical analysis of plastic additives, "Direct Effect Analysis" and biomarkers.
Requirements:
Ph.D. in Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Marine Chemical Pollution, Marine Sciences, or alike.
Experience in experimental aquatic ecotoxicology.
Broad experience in writing scientific papers as the first author.
Fluent English speaker.
Availability for research stays in EU countries in 2022-2023.
Tasks:
To collaborate in the implementation of the marine plankton and ecotoxicology laboratory.
Laboratory research on effects of microplastic leachates on marine organisms.
To carry out research stays in other European laboratories.
To support the Principal Investigator and project researchers during research activities.
To collaborate in mentoring Ph.D. students associated with the project.
Preparation of scientific articles, reports, and conference papers.
To contribute to scientific communication and outreach activities including updating the project's website and social networks.
